Hadoop Installation

Install Hadoop on Windows Operating System using Virtual Box and Cloudera QuickStart VM

Please follow the below steps to install Hadoop Successfully. 
  1. Download Virtual Box from https://www.virtualbox.org/
  2. Download Cloudera QuickStart VM from https://www.cloudera.com/
  3. Download 7-Zip software from http://www.7-zip.org/   to extract QuickStart VM file which is supported software and installed in your system
  4. Install VM Virtual Box that you have downloaded in step# 1.
  5. Extract Cloudera QuickStart VM zip file using 7-Zip software you have downloaded which will create a folder with same name.
  6. Open VM Virtual Box which you have installed in step#4 to create a NEW VIRTUAL MACHINE.
  7. Complete important Virtual Machine Setting and run the Hadoop and its eco system command to verify successful installation.

Step 1.

Go to  https://www.virtualbox.org/ Click on Download VirtualBox 5.1.



















Click on Windows Hosts, Which will download the .exe file.



















Step 2.

Go to https://www.cloudera.com/ and download Cloudera QuickStart VMs (Latest version) by clicking on QuickStart VMs from Download Menu



































Fill the Sign In Form and click on Continue to download the file.
























It will take some time to download a .zip file in your local system.

Step 3.
Go to  http://www.7-zip.org/ and click on download link as per your system type to install 7-Zip software and install in your system.



















Step 4.  Install VM Virtual Box


Double click on 'VirtualBox-5.1.28-117968-Win.exe' that you have downloaded in Step#1 and click on Run button to start installation.














Click on Next > Next > Next  till below window and click on 'Yes'


















Click on Install



















Installation will be started, if it ask for any security Confirmation, then again Click on Install as below.




















Then Click on Finish button to complete the installation.


















Step 5.
Extract cloudera-quickstart-vm-5.12.0-0-vmware.zip file that you have downloaded in step# 2 by using 7-Zip software as below which will create a folder with same name.














Step 6. Create a NEW VIRTUAL MACHINE.

Double click on  “VM Virtual Box” icon from Desktop or from Start Menu to open ‘VM Virtual Box Manager ‘ and click on New icon to create a New Virtual Machine













Provide the Virtual Machine Name, Type and Version as below and click on Next button
 Name: Cloudera VM, Type : Linux  Version: Other Linux (64-bit)






















Set the Memory Size (Minimum 4GB) and click on Next Button





















Choose ‘Use an existing virtual hard disk file' Radio button and click on Find icon to choose the ‘cloudera-quickstart-vm-5.12.0-0-vmware.vmdk’  file that you have extracted  in step 5 and click on Open.




Click on Create button





















Step 7. Complete important Virtual Machine Setting

Click on Setting > General > Advance Tab and change the value as below
















Click on System > Processor and change the processor value to 2 as below.
















Click on Start icon to lunch QuickStart VM


















Cloudera VM will be running and open a terminal to start working on Hadoop and its eco system like connect to MySQL database, Lunch Hive etc.

Note: Its take little time to open















Open Terminal to Connect into MySQL Database as below.
















Lunching  Apache Hive from QuickStart VM.
